Our WordPress Hosting Performance Tested

A benchmark of our hosting service

We tested the performance of a WordPress site in our environment. We created a RushBasic-WP1 WordPress hosting account for ourselves in the same manner new clients would. This is our least expensive hosting plan and came with WordPress already installed, ver4.42 at the time of this writing. We added some content and changed the theme. We kept the parameters the same as Ryan Sullivan's comparison tests, in which he benchmarks and compares major hosting companies. The tests comprise of a WordPress site of which exact copies are hosted at different hosting companies and the performance of each copy is measured. Load Impact is used to create 50 virtual users which send requests to our blog. The test starts initially with no users with an incremental increase to 50 virtual users over a period of time.

A few things to point out:

Caching and plugins were disabled at the time of the test
We used the 2013 theme with a total of five posts and seven pages
Our servers are located in Dallas, TX. For the benchmark, we used testing servers located in the East Coast and West Coast
